Falsely claims they are a gated community and excellent trash service
I have lived here for over 620 days. The gate has only been operational for about 60-90 days of my stay. Most recently was the longest stretch of the gate working. They installed an app that allowed residents to open the gate via phone. Even during this time, they left the exit gate opened which caused multiple dangerous near miss accidents in the community’s main intersection. As of the past 3 days, all residents have been locked out of the app and the gate has remained open once again. They still continue to claim they are a gated community while charging the prices but not providing the minimum service and security that it requires.
Secondly, which is not as big of a deal, but still frustrating. The trash valet requires us to put it out around 5-7 pm. They have routinely missed pickup on multiple days resulting in trash pile ups. When they do finally come around, they charge a fee for the amount of bags they carry. I have also spotted them making their route at 1:22 pm on weekdays, which is 3 1/2 hours before residents are supposed to be putting it out.
They also removed the trash bins in the main dog area, so now you have to carry the dog waste with you to your apartment. (Most residents don’t even pick it up)

Black Mold
If I could give it 0/5 I would. I rented my apartment in July but there were things that I didn’t like once I said the lease that were supposed to be handled but never were. Due to the small things that I asked to be taken care of not being done, I decided not to move in altogether but I kept the lease. Months after I received a call saying that there was a leak at my apartment and maintenance needed permission to go in which I granted. When I got off at 9 that night I went by to check the apartment there was no leak(visible), no fan or humidifier so I assumed everything was okay. Fast forward to December 31 and I decide let me move in to this place I’m paying 1300 for rent for and walked into a laundry room full of black mold. I have asthma and explained that to the manager who responded you can leave but you will be charged a termination fee. DONT MOVE HERE. PLESE FIND SOMETHING BETTER AND THAT IS REAL LUXURY

Solid place!
Everything was clean when I moved in and the office is friendly. Whenever I have an issue with my apartment they make sure it gets taken care of. Lots of space.

Staff is Awesome!
The Avenues of Lakeshore is one of the best places in Birmingham to live. When they say they're a luxury apartment complex, they really mean it. The apartments are beautiful, the community is quiet and safe, the maintenance staff is professional and super friendly, and the office staff blows it out of the park. Any time I have any issues, they have always helped me and just done an amazing job. I highly recommend living here!
